Abbaye Paix Dieu
La fondation de l'Abbaye de la Paix-Dieu s'inscrit dans le mouvement mystique féminin qui marqua le diocèse de Liège au début du 13e siècle. Initialement installée dans le village hesbignon d'Oleye, l'abbaye est transférée, en 1244, dans un site de vallée, à la confluence de plusieurs ruisseaux, au lieu-dit Grognart, à Bodegnée. Immédiatement, l'abbaye de la Paix-Dieu constitue un domaine agricole pour vivre selon l'idéal d'autarcie des Cisterciens. Après la crise de la fin du 13e siècle qui affecte son économie, la Paix-Dieu réorganise son domaine et se mue peu à peu en seigneur foncier. Ce capitalisme de la terre lui permet de faire construire des bâtiments monastiques et la ferme qui annonce celle que nous lui connaissons aujourd'hui (1730-1767).
