Bois du Cazier
To the south of Charleroi, the Bois du Cazier is a cultural place not to be missed against a backdrop of industrial heritage.
THE MUSEUM OF INDUSTRY
In the former hanging room and the shower baths, a scenographic programme retraces the history of the main sectors of activity in the Haine-Sambre-et-Meuse industrial area, with the support of the main collections of the former Industry Museum in Marchienne-au-Pont. During the Industrial Revolution, the Charleroi region was the centre of the country's economic activity. It is this world in full transformation that this Museum of Industry brings to life.
THE GLASS MUSEUM
The Glass Museum is housed in the new building, made of contemporary glass and steel, next to the lamp factory. The collections are presented from an innovative angle: a reverse chronology invites visitors to start with the current works and go back to the oldest periods.
THE 8 AUGUST 1956 SPACE
The Espace 8 août 1956 is an interpretation centre dedicated to the tragedy, safety at work and migration. Films, photographs, testimonies and technical explanations tell the story of the disaster and the rescue operations, hour by hour, day by day.
