Château de Seneffe

The castle of Seneffe is a castle built in the 18th century and which houses the goldsmith's museum of the French Community.

The renovated Louis XVI style castle was built in the 18th century (from 1763 to 1768) by the businessman Julien Depestre according to the plans of the architect Laurent-Benoit Dewez. After several changes of ownership, it fell into the hands of the Belgian State in 1970 and then to the Ministry of the French Community of Belgium, which decided to house this museum there.

The French Community of Belgium has completed the collection through purchases and legacies. It is currently one of the most important collections in Belgium.

Thematic exhibitions are organised on the life and art of the 18th century. Young goldsmiths can regularly exhibit their work here.
