Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption

The church is located in the centre of the village of Tintigny, next to the square and opposite the town hall.

It is a sacred building dedicated to Notre Dame de l'Assomption. It was built on the site of a Gallo-Roman pagan temple.

The church is currently dedicated to Notre Dame de l'Assomption in accordance with the wishes of the Jesuit Fathers of Luxembourg. It dates from the 17th century, as indicated by the date "1602" engraved in the wall of the chapel of the Lords of Villemont.

The building has undergone several transformations. In 1736, the sacristy was added to the chevet of the church. In 1763, the bell tower was knocked down by a hurricane and rebuilt as a massive square tower.

In 1895, the nave was lengthened and a new tower built in the neoclassical style. The tower chamber houses 3 bells: Marie-Antoinette, Bohy and Lorette. The last restoration was carried out in 1982.

In 2002, Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church turned 4 centuries old, and a committee was set up to celebrate the occasion in style. Numerous cultural events take place throughout the year (concerts, theatre, poetry, fireworks, etc.).
