Église Saint-Martin à Dion-le-Val
The church is located in the village of Dion-Le-Val, in the Chaumont-Gistoux district.
The church was rebuilt in 1837 by the architect A. Moreau on the site of the original church built around 1211.
The neoclassical church of Saint-Martin de Dion-le-Val is part of a listed group of buildings that also includes the presbytery (1773-1775), its outbuildings, the park and the buildings of the old farm and square opposite the church.
The interior of the building was refurbished in 2003 by architect Jean Cosse, and features a refined style illuminated by beautiful modern stained glass windows by master stained glass artist Jean-Marie Geron.
The building houses small statues from the local rural heritage. The cemetery has a number of remarkable gravestones, including those of the family of the Marquis de Dion, creator of the de Dion-Bouton car, as well as 16th-century Renaissance recumbent figures, including that of Philippe de Dion (died 1532), lord of the manor.
