Piscine de la Tourette à Biesme
Renovated as part of the Walloon Region's Swimming Pool Plan, the Tourette swimming pool in Biesme reopened on 31 July 2023. During the renovation, every effort was made to provide the best possible facilities for people with special needs.
It's open every day, with a 25-metre pool accessible by stairs, a learning pool and a cafeteria with a sun terrace!

In general
A parking space reserved for people with reduced mobility has been created directly next to the entrance to the swimming pool. It is accessible via the entrance gate at the crossroads with the N573. To open the gate, ring the bell on the post.
The doors are sliding and automatic and all access is on one level with no steps.
The pool has individual and family cubicles, as well as a large cubicle equipped for people with motor disabilities, and 2 communal changing rooms, also adapted and equipped.
Lockers are code-operated, and there are also coin-operated lockers.
The 2 pools are accessible by stairs, and a pool wheelchair and launching device are available.
The lighting has been redesigned to be sufficient and glare-free, and contrasts help with orientation.
Don't be surprised by the automatic showers!

There is a parking space reserved for people with reduced mobility in the large car park behind the building, but it is a long walk and the road slopes. For this reason, a 2nd reserved parking space has been created directly next to the entrance to the swimming pool. It can be accessed via the entrance gate at the crossroads with the N573. You have to ring the bell to open the gate. The bell is located on the "PRM car park" signpost to the left of the gate.
The gates are automatic sliding doors and all access is on one level with no steps.
The pool has a large cabin equipped with a flip-up seat, grab rails and a double transfer area. In the cabin, there are 2 large lockable lockers for wheelchairs and personal belongings.
2 communal changing rooms have also been adapted and are equipped with a flip-up seat with grab rails and a double transfer area, as well as a wide bench (50 cm) with a handrail above it.
A swimming pool wheelchair is available.
A private adapted toilet and shower cubicle is available opposite the adapted cubicle.
The foot bath has a gentle slope (5%) and is wheelchair accessible. Don't be surprised by the automatic showers!
Ask the lifeguards about using the mobile launching device with seat.
Hairdryers are available in the corridor leading to the changing rooms.

The pool has a large changing room equipped with a flip-up seat and grab rails. 2 communal changing rooms have also been adapted and are equipped with a lift-up seat with grab rails and a wide bench (50 cm) with a handrail above it.
There is a handrail in the wet foot areas, from the adapted changing rooms to the swimming pool, via the showers and the gently sloping foot bath. A pool wheelchair is also available if required.
The communal showers have a seat with grab rails. Don't be fooled by the automatic showers! A private adapted toilet and shower cubicle with a seat and grab rails is available opposite the adapted cubicle.

The entrance gates are automatic (the 2nd gate is on the left), and the reception desk is just beyond the gate.
The staff are aware of the issues and are available to help. Ask by telephone or e-mail to swim in a separate corridor.
Please note that there are automatic showers in the shower corridor. They can be disabled on request.
The gently sloping foot bath is equipped with handrails.
The edges of the pools are detectable by foot (different textures) and guide strips on the floor (different textures detectable by foot) indicate the entrance to the showers and the position of the stairs leading to the pools.

There are handrails for walking in the wet foot area, from the changing rooms through the showers and the foot bath. The foot bath is easy to cross, with a gentle slope. Be careful, there are automatic showers! They can be deactivated on request.
