Jardin du Presbytère de Rouvroy

Montquintin is a small Gaume village on the southern Belgian border in the commune of Rouvroy. With its church, feudal castle and main farm (Ferme de la Dîme), it is part of a site that has been listed as Wallonia's Outstanding Heritage Site since 1996.

The renovation of the village, Montquintin Couvreux, focused on the barn, then the playground and its viewpoint. Then it was on to the second viewpoint, the subject of this audit.

At the top of a hill at an altitude of 324m, around forty inhabitants live in an exceptional setting. The village is characterised by an unusual monumental grouping in the region, at the convergence point of four winding roads leading up from the valleys.

The ruins of a feudal castle sit enthroned at the summit.  The Romanesque church of Saint Quentin, dating from before the 10th century, has medieval features. On the square, the tithe farm built in 1765 was originally used to collect the clergy's tax on agricultural harvests. In the 19th century, it became the village school. The Musée Gaumais de Virton transformed it into a regional museum of rural life.
