Welcome to Access-i

Esperanzah! 2023

Everybody needs a bit of Esperanzah! A music and visual arts festival where you can share good music, artistic nuggets from all over, good food, a safer party, swag... And this year, there's an ultra-festive 'nocturne' starting on Thursday! 4 days of festivities not to be missed at Floreffe Abbey, from 27 to 30 July 2023!

Strong points

As in previous editions, the festival is making every effort to welcome people with disabilities (PWD) so that they can fully enjoy the concerts and other festival activities.

The PRM manager can be contacted during the festival: SIMON 0494/253.241.

  • A team of volunteers to welcome people, help them get around the site and provide useful information.
  • A car park reserved for people with disabilities on rue Victor Linart, staffed by volunteers.
  • An easy entry and wristband exchange procedure (central corridor reserved for PRMs at the access gantry at the end of Place Soviret).
  • Reserved podiums close to the stages.
  • Adapted toilets throughout the site.
  • induction loops for debates, concerts and films.
  • A rest area or changing room at the Red Cross stand in rue du Séminaire (entrance by ramp on the right). Medication can be left in the fridge.
  • Electric wheelchairs can be recharged in the Sisters' courtyard.
  • Numerous relaxation and rest areas throughout the site.
  • provision of wheelchairs or crutches
  • cashless payment system.

Points of attention

  • no cash dispensers on the festival site.
  • complex site, with a significant gradient
  • old cobblestone surface

Strong points

Given the layout of the site (steep inclines, old cobbled areas, distances, etc.), help is essential to make the most of the festival.

  • reserved parking (rue Victor Linart)
  • useful information on arrival: mobile phone number for contacting the team of volunteers
  • easier entry and exchange of wristbands
  • adapted toilets throughout the site (with hydro-alcoholic gel and manned by volunteers who will monitor cleanliness)
  • a team of volunteers trained in welcoming PRMs to help you get around
  • a changing and rest room at the Red Cross care station at the entrance to the festival
  • reserved podiums near the two main stages (Jardin and Futuro)
  • the "Les Jardins Suspendus" area will be accessible via a ramp
  • the possibility of recharging electric wheelchairs
  • some bars will have a lowered section for PRMs
  • water points will be placed at an accessible height

Points of attention

  • steep gradients
  • no tread plates or rubber mats
  • areas of old cobblestones
  • many grass areas
  • long distances
  • many bars and foodtrucks too high

Strong points

To compensate for the travel difficulties inherent in the configuration of the site, several adaptations are proposed:

  • reserved parking (rue Victor Linart)
  • useful information on arrival, including a list of special facilities and a mobile phone number for contacting the team of volunteers
  • easier entry and exchange of wristbands
  • adapted toilets throughout the site (with hydro-alcoholic gel and manned by volunteers who will monitor cleanliness)
  • a team of volunteers trained to welcome PRMs and help you get around
  • wheelchairs and crutches are available if needed
  • a room for changing and resting
  • reserved podiums near the two main stages with chairs available (Jardin and Futuro)
  • numerous relaxation and rest areas throughout the site

Points of attention

  • long distances

You'll be able to count on a team of volunteers to guide you throughout the festival, which, in addition to its musical appeal, offers areas for meetings and debates accessible to all.  And you can take advantage of all the special facilities on offer:

  • welcome on arrival by the team of volunteers and provision of useful information: festival apps via 4G, mobile phone numbers for contacting the team of volunteers, etc.
  • easier entry and exchange of wristbands
  • Guide dogs will be accepted on site, and a dog bar will be provided.
  • adapted toilets throughout the site, whose cleanliness will be monitored
  • a team of volunteers trained to welcome PRMs and help you get around
  • reserved podiums near the two main stages with chairs available (Jardin and Futuro)

Points of attention

  • complexity of the site
  • numerous spaces on different levels
  • several possible directions between buildings
  • no audiodescription provided for screenings and visual performances, particularly street art performances

  • no audiodescription planned for screenings and visual performances, particularly street art performances

Strong points

In addition to the concerts, the festival offers a wide range of visual activities: street art, exhibitions, decorations in every corner of the festival, screenings of certain films with subtitles, etc. as well as the festive aspect.

Points of attention

The festival does not offer any specific adaptations:

  • no sign language
  • written signage, no pictograms (complex site)

Strong points

Induction loops are available for the hearing impaired in the Grange (debating area, cinema, etc.).

Hearing-impaired people fitted with a hearing aid will be able to hear the debates via a system that picks up the sound directly from the mixer. All they have to do is switch the channel (T channel) on their device to access a specially reserved channel. No more extraneous noise!

Hearing-impaired people who don't have such a device will be able to borrow one from the info stand in exchange for their ID card.

There will also be plenty of visual entertainment alongside the concerts: street art, exhibitions, screenings of certain films with subtitles, etc. in addition to the festive aspect.

Strong points

The team of volunteers trained to welcome people with disabilities remains unchanged from previous years. Their experience will enable them to overcome any difficulties arising from the complexity of the site.

What's more, the whole site is secure and the festival takes place in a family atmosphere.

But also the proposed adaptations:

  • reserved parking (rue Victor Linart)
  • useful information on arrival, including a mobile phone number for contacting the team of volunteers
  • easier entry and exchange of wristbands
  • adapted toilets throughout the site
  • a team of volunteers trained to welcome PRMs and help you get around
  • wheelchairs available if necessary
  • a changing and rest room at the red cross station at the entrance to the festival
  • reserved podiums near the two main stages with chairs available (Jardin and Futuro)
  • numerous relaxation and rest areas throughout the site

Points of attention

  • complexity of the site
  • written signage, without pictograms
