Les Fêtes de Wallonie 2024 à Mons : Balade « Mons Passé Présent »

Street theatre: ‘Mons Passé Présent’, 5 theatre companies from Mons will be unveiling 5 unique creations specially designed for the occasion on the theme: ‘In Mons, there's always a cobble to be beaten!

The starting point is set in front of the Town Hall, taking spectators through the historic centre of the city.

On Friday 13 September, the show will move through the streets from 6.30pm to 9.30pm (last departure), 

Saturday 14 September from 4pm to 7pm (last performance).

Sunday 15 September from 3pm to 7pm (last departure).

The walk lasts approximately 2 hours and is about 1 km long.

Strong points

  • Free show, open to all (no need to book in advance).

  • Reserved parking on rue des Echelles and rue des Telliers.
  • The centre is closed to car traffic, but traffic is free on the streets and pavements as well as on the Grand-Place.

  • Adapted toilets in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Graty (about halfway along the route) and in the Jardin du Mayeur (toilets at the Musée du Doudou).
  • The route will be made easier by the installation of mats or plates and ramps to compensate for certain kerbs.

  • Two alternative routes: to the Jardin du Mayeur (point 1) via the rue d'Enghien to avoid the cobbled slope at the start of the courtyard of the Hôtel de Ville and to avoid the steps in the Passage Victor Hugo, or to the Cour MOC (point 5) via the rue Tour Auberon and the rue des Telliers (+/- 270m). Guidance will be provided.

  • The groups will be welcomed by the entertainers who will guide them.
  • Afternoon walks (departing until 5 p.m.) should be preferred to avoid the dark (given the 2-hour duration).
  • Guide dogs welcome.

  • Non-contrasting obstacles in the urban area and uneven ground in places.
