Fry Museum Brussels

The Musée de la Frite, situated in the very heart of Brussels, just a stone’s throw from the Manneken-Pis, is a unique venue entirely dedicated to one of Belgium’s greatest symbols: the chip. Spanning three floors and over 900 m² of exhibition space, it offers a fun, interactive and gourmet journey through the fascinating history of the potato and the famous Belgian chip.

Through modern exhibitions, historical artefacts, films, interactive quizzes and an audio guide available in 11 languages, visitors discover the origins of the potato, its arrival in Europe, the evolution of the chip over the centuries, and the secrets to cooking it to perfection according to Belgian tradition: the famous double-frying method.

The museum also highlights the unique place of chip shops in Belgian culture, as true popular and convivial institutions. The visit concludes with a demonstration of traditional cooking techniques and, of course, a tasting of a cone of authentic Belgian chips – included in the admission price – with a choice of several sauces.

Open daily from 10am to 6pm, the museum offers an experience that is at once educational, delicious and entertaining, ideal for families, tourists and all lovers of Belgium’s culinary heritage.
