Cycling route : Namur – Floreffe

The cycle route linking Namur to Floreffe offers a wonderful experience combining nature, heritage and accessibility. The route starts at the La Plante municipal playground, located at Avenue Félicien Rops, 1 in Namur, and ends at Floreffe Abbey, Rue du Séminaire 7. It is a 30.3 km round trip (15.15 km each way), nearly 89% of which is on the RAVeL cycle path. The entire circuit runs alongside the Meuse and Sambre rivers in a green, flat and pleasant environment, ideal for a peaceful bike ride.

The full version of the circuit, approximately 15 km each way, remains accessible to those who are comfortable with shared roads, particularly when crossing the centre of Namur, where cyclists, pedestrians and motorists coexist. This route offers a beautiful diversity of urban and rural landscapes, but includes a few narrower sections and a downhill passage towards the water that may be perceived as unsafe by some users.

For those who prefer a quieter and safer alternative, it is possible to start the ride from the Ryckmans car park, where three disabled parking spaces are available. This option allows you to cover only the last ten kilometres to Floreffe (= 20 km round trip). This section, mostly along the towpath, offers a peaceful atmosphere, away from traffic, and is a great option for those seeking comfort, relaxation and safety.

Whether you start from the centre of Namur or the Ryckmans car park, this cycle ride between Namur and Floreffe combines accessibility, serenity and heritage discovery in a particularly pleasant natural setting.
