Your walk is punctuated by a series of picturesque locks, calibrated to the size of the old barges that were once built in various shipyards in the region.
The landscapes along the Sambre become wilder, and the flora and fauna more diverse.
The omnipresence of pleasure boats shows that Thuin, famous for its hanging gardens, was and still is a major centre for inland waterway transport.
The route follows the towpath along the Sambre.

There is currently no dedicated car park in Thuin, so it is best to start the walk in Landelies, where there is a disabled parking space.
