Parking

• 4 parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities in the car park shared with the Carrefour supermarket. The spaces near the shop entrance are level.

Entrance

• Non-slip surface on the access path: tarmac + chequered metal

• There is a ramp providing access to the entrance (in addition to the two steps), with no level changes, a kerb to prevent wheels from rolling off and a level landing in front of the door.

• Level entrance. Sufficient clearance through the entrance door (93 cm). Door opening force: 4 kgf.

Reception

• Reception desk near the entrance; staff have a clear view of the entrance and can offer assistance if necessary.

• Desk height: 90 cm; mobile payment terminal (touchscreen, with contactless payment).

Internal circulation

• Barrier-free floor (smoothed concrete).

• All circulation areas are wide; there are no internal doors to pass through.

Vertical access

• A lift in a shaft is provided (‘domestic’ lift). Sufficient clear doorway width (90 cm). Lift car: 110 x 140 cm.

Exhibition

• Easy movement throughout all exhibition areas.

• Display stands with information leaflets at an accessible height (110 cm).

Toilets

• An accessible toilet, clearly signposted, is available on the first floor. The door has sufficient clearance.

• There is sufficient manoeuvring space in front of the door and inside the toilet cubicle.

• The toilet bowl is at a suitable height, and there are two grab rails. A transfer area is available.

• An accessible washbasin is provided inside the accessible toilet cubicle.

Parking

• The disabled parking space, situated right next to the museum entrance, is on a steep slope (8%). Please use the spaces near the Carrefour entrance instead.

Entrance

• Excessive gradient of the access path: 9% asphalt slope.

• Metal access ramp leading to the entrance door with a steep gradient (max 9%) and no handrail.

• Staff can see the door, but may not be able to see anyone in difficulty at the bottom of the slopes.

Vertical access

• Lift with a manually operated swing door: the handle is difficult to grip and the door has a return arm with no delay mechanism. Reception staff are always present on the ground floor to assist, but not on the first floor.

• Button must be held down throughout the journey (lift platform).

Exhibitions

• All exhibitions are temporary. Sometimes certain items are displayed on tables with insufficient clearance underneath to allow a wheelchair to get close enough.

Toilets

• The door to the accessible toilet opens inwards (but the cubicle is spacious).

• Inside the accessible toilet cubicle, access to the door handle is obstructed by a shelf.

• The grab rail is angled.

• The baby changing table is located next to the toilet and obstructs the transfer area.
