Located on the former territory of the Treveri tribe, the town of Arlon (formerly known as Orolaunum vicus) is situated at the confluence of two important Roman roads (Reims-Trier and Metz-Tongeren), which enabled the ancient settlement to enjoy a certain degree of prosperity during the first three centuries of our era. Various excavation campaigns carried out throughout the province of Luxembourg have unearthed remains that bear witness to a rich culture. Thanks to all these discoveries, the Arlon Archaeological Museum has a rich and impressive collection of stone artefacts, comprising dozens of fragments of ancient funerary monuments.

Saint Victor Church in Petigny
The Church of Saint Victor in Petigny (Couvin) was rebuilt between 1872 and 1874 in a neo-Romanesque style, based on plans by architect Ladislas Degreny. It consists of three naves and its bell tower was restored in 1939. The interior was redesigned in 1968 by architect René Michaux. Its organ, built around 1890 by Schyven, has recently undergone a participatory restoration.
Today, the church remains a lively place of worship and also hosts cultural activities.
