Plugstreet 14-18 Experience

The Interactive Interpretation Centre focuses on the lives of soldiers and civilians. Its semi-underground construction evokes the catacombs that are now inaccessible. A glass pyramid marks its entrance. Visitors can enjoy a variety of high-tech displays.

In partnership with the Australian government, three themes related to the presence of Australian soldiers in Ploegsteert and Warneton are also explored: the Battle of Messines, the catacombs and the winter of 1917-1918.

Practical information :
  • The Interactive Interpretation Centre is located in the middle of a park.

  • Two car parks are available along the road.

  • The path to the Interpretation Centre is paved with cobblestones and benches have been installed.

  • Information panels are located along the path.

  • The building is semi-underground and accessed via a 30-metre slope.
