Pôle de la Pierre

The Pôle de la Pierre is a training center for stoneworking professions that has been based in Soignies since late 2016. It brings together four partners (IFAPME, FOREM, CEFOMEPI, and IPW) around an ambitious joint project.

Housed in the restored buildings of the Grande Carrière Wincqz site, the Pôle offers a variety of training courses, combining tradition and the transmission of ancestral know-how with technological innovations. These include extraction and processing (quarry workers), stone cutting, sculpture, engraving, heritage restoration, new digital technologies, etc. These training courses are open to all (awareness-raising for schoolchildren, young apprentices, job seekers, continuing education for professionals, etc.).

Couvin

Saint Victor Church in Petigny

The Church of Saint Victor in Petigny (Couvin) was rebuilt between 1872 and 1874 in a neo-Romanesque style, based on plans by architect Ladislas Degreny. It consists of three naves and its bell tower was restored in 1939. The interior was redesigned in 1968 by architect René Michaux. Its organ, built around 1890 by Schyven, has recently undergone a participatory restoration.

Today, the church remains a lively place of worship and also hosts cultural activities.
