The ‘bat trail’ in Orval takes you on a journey of discovery through the ‘Prés d'Orval’ nature reserve and its humid valley floor.
This place is unique in that it is home to colonies of bats such as the greater mouse-eared bat, the greater horseshoe bat and the lesser horseshoe bat. These small protected mammals come here to feed and reproduce in the attics and underground passages of Orval Abbey. To increase the number of insects essential to the bats' diet in the reserve, Highland cows graze on the meadow that you can walk along during your stroll.
Come and discover the facilities that have been put in place. They will explain how the Prés d'Orval nature reserve is managed.
