Tour & Taxis – Gare Maritime

Support :

The audit and certification project for 12 VENUES category infrastructures was made possible thanks to the valuable support of the Brussels-Capital Region, AMT-Concept and visit.brussels.

Description of the VENUE :

The Gare Maritime : the former freight station turned urban jungle, now energy neutral !

It offers the ideal setting for innovative cultural events, film shoots or photo shoots, markets and fairs, product launches and promotions. The halls of the Gare Maritime have been transformed into an indoor city. The building is suitable for small meetings or large events. The monumental nave, an architectural highlight, is bathed in indirect natural light and offers sufficient space for well-attended indoor activities.

The green walkways along the central nave feature themed gardens and tall trees, creating the impression that the neighbouring park is extending into the building. The Gare Maritime is a unique venue : attractive, innovative and ambitious.

Practical information :
  • Please note : This certification only applies to the building and not to future events that may take place there. During events, the layout of the premises is subject to change, which may affect accessibility. The event organiser would then be responsible for any changes. In addition, the certification visit only covered the public part of the building and not the rented parts.

  • Covered car parks are located next to the Gare Maritime.

  • There are several entrances : Rue Picard and on the covered car park side (on the left when looking at the Rue Picard façade). The entrances on the car park side have automatic sliding doors ; the Rue Picard doors are always open.

Bright Brussels Festival 2026

The Brussels Festival of Lights guides you through four evenings, from 12 to 15 February, in the iconic central district of Brussels.

Rediscover the historic city centre through more than twenty poetic works and sparkling activities created by artists from around the world.

This year's circuit is unique and features 20 works. The route is approximately 6 km long and forms a loop.

In addition to these artistic installations, a complementary programme punctuates the festival with guided tours, live entertainment and heritage lighting. There are also several facilities accompanying the circuit, such as the Bright Brussels Market for shopping, Bright Brussels Kids for entertaining the youngest visitors and the Bright Brussels Café for a gourmet break.

For this fourth edition, in collaboration with Access-i, only the circuit itself has been made accessible and certified.

Bright Festival is an immersive and artistic experience in the heart of the capital of Europe. Not to be missed !

Practical information :
  • There are seating areas along the route: Parc Royal, Place de la Monnaie, Place des Martyrs, Cathedral of Saint Gudula.

  • The route is completely free of charge. No registration is required.

  • You can start and finish the route wherever you like.

  • This year, information points are located at Place de la Monnaie and at the entrance to the Royal Park.

  • The lighting in the city centre is quite low. The lights are covered with pink cloth along the entire route, but this greatly reduces the overall brightness.

  • Arrangements have been made to facilitate crossings and contrasts. This week's rainy weather may disrupt some of these arrangements. A team of technicians will ensure that these arrangements are maintained throughout the festival as far as possible.

  • The artwork in the courtyard of the Town Hall may pose a problem in terms of accessibility (QR code to be scanned).
