Located in the historic heart of Liège, on the banks of the Meuse River, the Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Liège - Liège Tourist Office is housed in the former meat market, the oldest civil building in the city, built in 1546 for the butchers' guild and renovated in the 1990s.
The building is worth a visit for its stone columns and magnificent wooden framework.
Here you will find all the information you need for a pleasant and enriching stay in the region, as well as a shop offering a range of Liège products, souvenirs and a selection of books. You can also hire bicycles to visit the city.
Practical information :
Open every day except 1 January, 1 May, 1 November and 25 December.
La Batte tram stop nearby.
The main entrance is on Rue de la Goffe, via an access ramp. Since the tram came into service, the street has been pedestrianised, like most streets in the neighbourhood.
It is difficult to drive and park in the neighbourhood, but the Cité car park (paid) is located right next to the building. For able-bodied visitors, the side entrance (two steps without safety rail, 77 cm wide) is nearby. Wheelchair users must go around the esplanade (approximately 100 metres - down and up the access ramp) to enter through the main entrance.
It may be possible to drop someone off near the foot of the access ramp, on the platform, at the entrance to Rue de la Goffe.
The opening hours, landline number, website and email address are displayed at both entrances.
The reception desk is not visible from the main entrance, but you will find it easily by walking a little further in.
Staff will come out from behind the counter to welcome visitors and assist them if necessary. They have been trained in welcoming people with specific needs. One member of staff is trained in sign language.
The building has standard toilets in the basement and an accessible toilet behind the reception desk.
