What if the culture and heritage of Mons became even more accessible?

Designed by our partner Passe Muraille, the “Mons, le patrimoine au bout des doigts” project offers you a new way to (re)discover the Doudou City, thanks to inclusive videos designed for as wide an audience as possible! This collaboration with the City of Mons invites different audiences to explore the city and discover iconic, architectural and sometimes unusual sites.

Two engaging routes accessible to all audiences are available:

  • “The Historic Sites Route”

Discover four iconic sites in Mons: the Grand-Place, the Town Hall, the Sainte-Waudru Collegiate Church and the Belfry Park;

  • “The Unusual Sites Route”, from Square Saint-Germain to the new Calatrava railway station

Using your smartphone, scan the QR codes displayed on the façades of several historic buildings to discover content translated into sign language (LSFB), subtitled, narrated and adapted into Easy to Read and Understand language (FALC).

This initiative is not aimed exclusively at people with disabilities. Accessibility is a universal way of improving the visitor experience, benefiting everyone.

These inclusive contents meet the needs of a very wide range of audiences, including:

  • Digitally connected audiences who enjoy visual formats, subtitles and content that can easily be accessed on mobile devices and social media;
  • Older people, thanks to clear subtitles and voice-overs that facilitate understanding despite possible hearing or reading difficulties;
  • Deaf, hard-of-hearing, partially sighted and blind people, people with intellectual disabilities, dyslexia or difficulties with reading comprehension, thanks to LSFB, adapted subtitles and FALC;
  • Businesses, organisations and institutions wishing to reach a wider audience while ensuring that their messages are understood.
